Here am I LORD…
Wait for what the Lord has for you. Be patient. Let patience have its perfect works. We get ahead of ourselves when we start doing things we feel is of the utmost importance to us and we want to do it right away. We pray and pray and say please Lord let this be your will. Allow this to happen. I just want to…. Then we go out there thinking we are stepping out in faith, but we end up going ahead of God. Though we do not hear the Lord in a physical tone of voice say wait, our prayers are to us put on hold; forgotten; not answered. When we wait for His divine plan to be fulfilled, in the end we receive more than we imagine. We receive our character and our grace from God. Our own plan isn’t what we should be accounting for, our own power, our own control. God is always in control. Our Father knows what is best, and when it is best for us. He may put something in our mind to do, but wait for when He wants us to do it. If we go out on our own, thinking that this is something to do right now, we will find nothing but disappointment, heart break and lose our faith. When we say “Here am I Lord, use me!” We expect Him to right away put us to work. But we have some learning to do first. We have some character building to do first. Remember when Moses was chosen by God to lead His people out of bondage, he had to be prepared, for he was not ready for the grand work the Lord had for him to do. His faith was not where it should be. He was rash, quick to lose his temper, and he had to have the same faith that Abraham and Jacob had to accomplish this work. Our work won’t be as grand a work as Moses, but we still have a lot of growing of faith, patience and love, temperance, meekness, goodness, long-suffering, gentleness, peace, joy, that will get us far in the work the Lord has us to do.
If we go out thinking God has called us when He really hasn’t then our efforts are in vain. Because we have not done our growing in Christ first. We are to have every aspect of Christ in us in order to represent Him in His ministry.
“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:24-26.
On the day that God called Moses, his attention was caught by the voice of God from a burning bush. He heard God calling his name. “Moses, Moses.” And Moses said, “Here am I.” God introduced Himself to Moses as the God of his father Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses was one of the favored and chosen one for the most important mission in our history. To lead God’s people out of slavery of Egypt. That is why he had so much learning and seasoning to do.
Though we cannot hear the voice of God as clearly as Moses, God has other ways of letting us know we are ready for the task He has for us. He will have things open up to us and fall into place as we go. Doors will be open that will be like putting a puzzle together one piece at a time. Things will start moving in the way God will have it move. And we will know it is the blessing of God because things will practically fall into place. And we are given the ok to move forward with the mission at hand. But like before said, we must have patience. God wants to know that we will not go out on a whim, on our own authority, and on our own power to do our will without Him. We may prepare and get ourselves ready for the mission at hand, but we have a lot of growing to do first.
Moses had no idea he would be called of God to do such a grand mission to lead His people out of Egypt. And when God told him what he was to do, he made excuses why he shouldn’t be the chosen one. “Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” But God promised to be with him.
If we go out on a mission we feel is in God’s will, and we haven’t been given the go ahead from Him, we go out there glorifying only ourselves and not God. Because we feel that we know what we are doing, when we haven’t grown in Christ first.
God knows when we are ready to do His bidding and go out there to bring in souls to Christ. “And He said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: when thou has brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.” Exodus 3:12.
The way to know that we are ready for a mission the Lord has for us to do, and we are all called to do His will, but in His timing, is when we are seasoned in His Word. Knowing that anyone that bares false doctrines, we are able to prove them by “It is written” and we know that God’s word is strong in us. That we carry within us the love of Christ, knowing He dwells with us. Knowing that He walks in us. We can boldly say “God is here.” If we don’t allow anything to to set us off in anger, when we are not giving into the works of the flesh, we are seasoning ourselves for a mission. To be a disciple we must crucify all of our worldly desires in order to represent our Saviour. We must put off the old man, and allow the new man in Christ to come forth. We cannot allow ourselves to be easily tempted. For Christ is holy, and we are to be holy as He is holy. Now because we are born of the flesh, we feel how can we be so perfect in Christ as He is perfect? If we bare the fruits of the Spirit, we bare the traits of Christ in us. For with Christ we can do all things. And without Him we can do nothing. Once we realize that Christ is in us, and His Word dwells in our hearts, we have His character within us. For if we study to show ourselves approved, and we are very familiar with the truth of the Word and the gospel, we have the strength of Christ in us. And He will then tell us, “Go and do this, for certainly I will be with thee.” Faith that Christ is with us in all we do, will move us forward in God’s work. “But faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1. “By faith” as did our forefathers, we will accomplish the will of God.
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Lord I give you praise for your unfailing love. I give you praise that you are always with us. You say “I will certainly be with thee.” And I thank you for that promise. In Joshua 1:9 it says; “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage. Be not afraid neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Knowing that you will be with me where ever I go, is comforting and a blessing to me. For in no time in my life do I wish to be without you. As I study your Word and walk in the newness of Christ, I know that I am putting on the new man. (Woman) and that I know that I am no longer under sin’s domain, but victorious through the indwelling Christ. And that the promise is that “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
I believe you will continue to make my heart of flesh from the heart of stone I once had in the world. Thank you for showing me your grace and love when I was in the lowest parts of myself. For bringing me out of my selfishness and into your grace. In Jesus name Amen.
Be still and know that He is God.
